Well to honestly answer that question is like answering the question, “What is the best automobile?” It all depends on a who you are and what you want to use the detector for. Tesoro Compadre: MSRP $189 is an easy to use one knob detector that has a lifetime warranty. I know many veteran treasure hunters use this detector still to this day because it is so easy to use and it is light enough to swing all day without fatigue. Did I mention a lifetime warranty! other Tesoro models that can fall into this category are the Silver Umax  has two knobs and retails for $299. Again the Tesoro models come with a lifetime warranty which is the best in its field!

White’s Detectors- Prizm™ IIIis White’s most affordable metal detector. Features include depth indicator and target ID. White’s is known for their up-to-date technology and design. These detectors have a digital display. The Prizm III runs for $299MRSP and has a 2 year warranty.

Bounty Hunter - Tracker IV is another Inexpensive all metal detector that goes easy on the wallet. They run at MRSP $189.99 with a 5 year warranty.  The Tracker IV offers the most options of the tracker series including a digital display for recognizing what you are detecting.

Garrett Ace 150 and 250 - Garrett has been around for a long time, making some of the best detectors available. Owners swear by them and how well they work and the ACE 250 is one of the most popular detectors for the beginner and avid treasure hunters. They have a 2 year warranty. (150 MRSP is $179.99 and the 250 is $249.99).

Fisher F2 : The Fisher F2 has a wide following and like the Garrett ACE 250 it is one of the more popular metal detectors for beginners and veteran treasure hunters. It two offers a digital display and weighs only 2.6 lbs. The Fisher F2 costs $249.99 and comes with a 5 year warranty. Another quality detector from Fisher is the 1212-x which runs around $179.99MRSP The 1212 does not offer the digital readout.
