Metal Detectors?
pearl_682 asked:
Im looking to buy a metal detector for under $200 but I dont want crap. I would like the best for the dollar. Or maybe even around that price range. It would be great if it could even get a little wet, and detect objects further than maybe 6-7 inches. I do realize that metal detectors can get expensive to have tons of features, but as I said Im lookin for a beginner-intermediate. I dont want to buy one and regret it, because I could have spent a little more and got some very useful features.

Check e-bay. You can find some great deals on new and used ones.

My advice is to get a machine with a few extra features. (you will grow into them) When you get into MDing you will appreciate that you are not digging bottle caps when your machine says or sounds “coin”. You get what you pay for with metal detectors. Fisher, Garrett, Tesoro and Whites all make excellent metal detectors. Don’t buy the fringe ones you see in wal mart or radio shack. You can expect to pay from $500 to $700 for a good mid range machine. You may look for a long time for a machine

My choice would be the Tesoro models first then the Garrett, Fisher and Whites. All make a good beginner MD.
